The Park Our Town Built

Raven Tree Press commissioned me to illustrate the picture book THE PARK OUR TOWN BUILT, written by Dianne Bertrand Gonzales. It was a story about a community coming together to build a park for the town. I wanted to amplify the reading experience by including two games in the book to draw the viewer closer to the illustrations. The end papers featured items that were included in the illustrations throughout the book. I also hid a worm on every page of the book. This game was a hit with readers because the worm grew smaller with each page. Also, this book was simultaneously released in English and as a Bilingual English/Spanish edition.

Objective: illustrate the manuscript and design the layout of the book, design a clear way to display the Spanish translated text, create a wraparound dust jacket for the book, include custom design elements to create an engaging reading experience
